West Ham United manager Manuel Pellegrini is interested in signing Jack Wilshere, according to reports.

The Daily Star report that Pellegrini is watching developments at Arsenal, with the midfielder’s contract expiring at the end of this month. The 64-year-old is reportedly a keen admirer, and tried to sign Wilshere for Manchester City at one stage. Now he’s preparing to renew that interest with his new club.

Everton, Crystal Palace, Newcastle, Wolves and Fulham are all also keen, according to the report. Wilshere will certainly have plenty of Premier League options if he decides to leave, although none as high up the division as Arsenal.

The Star claim Wilshere is ‘unhappy’ that his Arsenal offers so far have been based on games played.

It does feel like if Arsenal had made a sufficiently convincing offer to Wilshere, he could’ve signed it by now. Perhaps he’s waiting to speak to new manager Unai Emery, but Rob Holding didn’t wait for the new manager to sign his extension last month, so there’s no requirement to do so.

Since Wilshere isn’t in the England World Cup squad, Arsenal don’t really have a deadline to resolve the situation. Hopefully they’ll aim to sort it out before the player’s contract actually expires though.
