David Ospina’s agent has offered him out to Fenerbahce, as a summer exit looks increasingly likely for the Colombian.

Turkish Football write that Ospina has given his representatives the green light on planning a summer exit. After they offered him to Besiktas last summer (before Arsene Wenger prevented the deal going through), they’re offering him out to Turkey again, this time with Fenerbahce top of the list.

Former Arsenal scout Damien Comolli is now a sporting director at Fenerbahce, and we reported yesterday on the rumours that he’s heading to England to hold talks for the goalkeeper. Now Bernd Leno looks close to joining as a replacement, so there’s no real reason why a deal for Ospina shouldn’t go through.

Petr Cech had a very poor season in 2017/18, making a number of mistakes directly leading to goals, yet Ospina remained second-choice anyway. When he did get his big chance, in the Europa League run, he was similarly disappointing. There really isn’t much reason for him to want to stay, nor Arsenal to keep him.

If Fenerbahce are willing to cover at least part of the cost of Arsenal’s replacement goalkeeper, it would be a good thing for player and club.
