Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Celta Vigo’s Stanislav Lobotka with Napoli also trying to sign the player.

Although Arsenal are expected to sign Lucas Torreira from Sampdoria, Unai Emery is not done refreshing the side’s midfield with just one purchase. According to Tutto Mercato Web, the Gunners are also keen on securing a deal for Lobotka.

Napoli, however, who were also interested in signing Torreira but were outbid by Arsenal, look like they are the favourites for the player’s signature.

Speaking to Pravda, a publication in his home country, Slovakia, Lobotka said recently, “The club they said clearly that if they come up with an interesting offer, they have no problem to let me go.

“But it has to be an adequate offer, as I recently signed an extension of the contract. We have to wait for it to happen.”

He also admitted that he had spoken to his national teammate, Marek Hamsik, about Napoli. “We talked about it earlier,” he added. “Maurizio Sarri, a former coach, asked me too. We enjoyed how it works in Naples – everything commended.

“I would love to meet up there – I play well with him, it would be nice to play together in the club.”

Lobotka signed a new deal with the Serie A side in February and is under contract until 2023. His release clause was increased from €35m to €50m which is well outside what Arsenal can afford in this window unless they sell at least one of their biggest names.
