Jack Wilshere has just two weeks left on his contract with Arsenal, and the media can’t make their mind up if Unai Emery wants him to stay or go.

An exclusive from the Mirror claims Wilshere was initially “desperate” to stay at the Emirates. He then held talks with Unai Emery, who made it clear he only considers the 26-year-old a fringe player, making the midfielder doubt his decision and consider an exit.

Goal then wrote that Unai Emery “does not need Wilshere at Arsenal”. Spanish outlet Sport wrote in their Sunday edition that the manager “doesn’t count on Wilshere”.

However, this was in direct contradiction with an exclusive from The Sun, who claim that “Wilshere has met with new Gunners boss Unai Emery, who wants him to stay at the Emirates stadium”.

Being cynical, it appears the media are just playing a guessing game. They know a decision is imminent, and stories about Wilshere’s future will get clicks either way. Later, when he announces his decision, they’ll all say “look, we were right”, or “he had a last-minute change of heart”. They can’t be wrong.

One thing they do agree on, is that a number of Premier League clubs want to sign Wilshere up. Wolves, West Ham, Everton and Newcastle are listed among those interested, along with Sampdoria, AC Milan and Juventus from overseas.

Wilshere has a contract with Arsenal until the end of the month, but he can negotiate with any club domestically or abroad already. Hopefully he’ll give his decision publicly in in the next week or so.
