Katie McCabe has told the Irish Independent that she is ‘ecstatic’ to sign a new Arsenal deal that will see her prolong her stay at the club.

McCabe arrived at Arsenal from Shelbourne Ladies in 2015 and spent part of last season on loan. She was very close to a move to Liverpool during the January window, only for the move to collapse after we had it confirmed by two independent sources that she was on her way north.

When she signed for Arsenal initially, McCabe snubbed offers from both Chelsea and Manchester City.

Louise Quinn, meanwhile, who also signed a new deal with the club, said, “Getting to the FA Cup final was something that I wasn’t even sure was in my sights. It seemed so far away but then when you join a club like Arsenal, it definitely gets there.

“I have to find different parts of me that, as a player, I haven’t come across. I think Arsenal has really brought that out in me. Dribbling with the ball more, wanting the ball more… it’s about always improving.”

Quinn, 27, signed for Arsenal just last year, arriving from Notts County Ladies. The Republic of Ireland international had only signed for County three months previously but was forced to move after the Magpies folded.

The centre-back was initially only recruited for the Spring Series, but first earned herself a contract extension in August after showcasing fine form as Arsenal stayed unbeaten during the tournament.
