Alex Iwobi insists he’s a better dresser than Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, taking a light-hearted shot at his new teammate in an interview on national team duty.

Iwobi spoke to BBC Africa ahead of the opening match of the World Cup, answering questions about his favourite goals, and which teams he plays as on FIFA. When the interviewer asked him who was the better dresser between him and Aubameyang though, the 22-year-old wasn’t about to concede defeat.

“I believe I’m the best dressed,” he said. “He’s a bit too flash. I don’t really like too much flash.”

The pair are already fast becoming friends off the pitch, based on their interactions in the media so far. Aubameyang even admitted he’ll support Nigeria in the World Cup for Iwobi, which the Arsenal academy man seemed pretty happy about.

It’s good to see that Aubameyang has integrated into the squad so quickly, on and off the pitch. You can’t complain about 10 goals and four assists in the first 13 Premier League games for a player, and there doesn’t seem to be anyone at Arsenal that dislikes him.

Plus Aubameyang really helped Henrikh Mkhitaryan settle in quickly, and got Alexandre Lacazette scoring again after his injury. If his next trick is to get Alex Iwobi back to his best, he’ll make himself a very popular figure in North London.
