Mehdi Benatia was spotted collecting packages from Juventus on his return from Russia, adding to the growing rumours of a possible exit, in Italy.

The Italian media is really starting to run with the Benatia exit story, and it’s reached the point where anything and everything is a clue for whether he’s planning to stay.

Gazzetta dello Sport write that the defender returned to Juventus after Morocco’s World Cup exit to collect some packages, and that Arsenal, Marseille and Dortmund are interested in luring him away. Tuttosport and Corriere dello Sport also run stories about Benatia’s possible exit, and both mention Arsenal as an interested party.

The number of different outlets insisting a move could be on the cards suggests there’s something in the rumour.

The media have linked Benatia with a move to Arsenal a lot in the last month or so, with reports in early June suggesting the Gunners ‘made contact’ with Juventus over a possible transfer. This followed claims in May that the club are ‘ready to dive in’ for the player.

The 31-year-old himself spoke to the media this week, and said that he’s happy with his current club. However, he added that he needs to talk with them to decide on his next step. We’ll have to wait and see what that is.
