Benjamin Pavard wants to move to Arsenal this summer, according to reports in the German media.

Calcio Insider claim their sources have informed them that Pavard’s “dream is to play in the Premier League” and he “wants to sign for Arsenal”.

L’Equipe wrote recently that Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund have both enquired over the availability of the player, but it seems he’d prefer to move to North London. The French outlet claim he would cost the Gunners around €50m (£43.7m), if current club Stuttgart get their way.

I’m not sure Arsenal would want to part with a fee that large, but Pavard certainly did nothing to harm his value in 2017/18. The 22-year-old appeared in every single minute of Stuttgart’s league campaign, helping them to a seventh place finish.

The defence only got better as the season went on with him in it. In fact, they only conceded one goal in his final four games of the campaign, to Bayern Munich.

As a result of his club form, the defender got his international debut last November, and is now in the France squad travelling to Russia this summer. He played the full 90 minutes against Italy on Friday, so he might even be in contention for starts at the tournament.

We’ll see if Arsenal try to make a move for the player in the next 11 days, before his value inevitably skyrockets at the World Cup.
