Beth Mead has been named as England Women’s Young Player of the Year after making her debut for her country in April.

Mead made her home on the left-wing at Arsenal this season and was back to her clinical best and the form that saw Arsenal sign her from Sunderland.

Following a disappointing Spring Series, Mead lifted her level and performed to the highest standard, resulting in an England call-up in April.

Her direct style and speed makes her a threat from the flanks and she can attack defences at pace, beating them with ease.

At a time when the other forwards were struggling for form, Mead scored crucial goals for the team and that’s why she also deserves our player of the year award.

The senior award was won by Birmingham City’s Ellen White.

The former Arsenal player enjoyed a fine season, scoring 15 goals and seeing off competition from players such as Millie Bright, Nikita Parris, Fran Kirby and Demi Stokes.
