Arsenal have reportedly signed Joel Lopez from the Barcelona Academy.

Arsenal have been linked with a move for the teenager since the start of March when it was claimed they were interested in signing the pacey left-back on a free transfer.

Around 10 days ago it was reported that the 16-year-old would be signing for Arsenal and that the Catalans had already agreed to let him join the Gunners. They just needed to sort out compensation for ‘training rights’.

The left-back joined Barcelona when he was just seven years old and is rated as one of the most promising youngsters at the club’s famed talent factory, La Masia.

Barcelona tried to get Lopez to sign a deal with them that would see him remain with the club, but Lopez informed the Catalan giants he would be leaving for Arsenal, according to a report in Sport and RAC1 a few weeks ago.

Raul Sanllehi’s influence is believed to have been integral to Arsenal sealing the deal with Liverpool also keen on securing the teenager’s services.

Arsenal were also trying to sign Robert Navarro from La Masia, but he is heading to Monaco as per the above tweet.
