Arsenal are continuing their post-Wenger-era clear out by getting rid of more coaches and medical personnel according to an exclusive in Tuesday’s Daily Mail which isn’t really an exclusive as it’s also in the Telegraph.

It was predictable that, when Arsene Wenger went, a number of long-term coaches would leave with him so when word broke that the likes of Boro Primorac would also be leaving nobody was surprised. Similarly, Gerry Peyton and Tony Colbert.

But, on top of that, Arsenal have also told Colin Lewin that he will no longer be required at the club after 23 years, leaving Arsenal’s head of medical ‘shocked’ according to Steve Stammers and Sami Mokbel in Tuesday’s Mail and a report in the Telegraph.

Paul Johnson, equipment manager, has also been told he is no longer required.

Arsenal’s managerial shortlist, meanwhile, now apparently stands at three – Mikel Arteta, Patrick Vieira and Julian Nagelsmann – after Max Allegri declared he would be staying with Juventus unless they sacked him.

As we reported previously, Steve Bould and Jens Lehmann will be offered new jobs within the new management set-up.

The Telegraph report today, however, that Bould is delaying his decision until he knows who the new manager will be.

They claim he will leave if it is Arteta or Nagelsmann as he has ‘reservations about working for a younger manager’.

The Telegraph also link him with the managerial job at Stoke, where he was previously on a shortlist to replace Tony Pulis, even though Paul Lambert is still in the position.

Lehmann has reportedly indicated he is happy to stay after only joining the coaching set-up last summer.

Ivan Gazidis, meanwhile, has moved to a new office at London Colney as he positions himself as ‘Kingmaker’ at the club in the wake of Arsene Wenger’s departure.

It’s worth noting that the Mail and Telegraph also report that Freddie Ljungberg is to return to Arsenal as part of the u23 set-up. This was first reported by the BBC’s David Ornstein but Freddie spoke to the Swedish media to say it is not true.
