Arsenal have received a triple injury boost ahead of their match against Atletico Madrid on Thursday, with Henrikh Mkhitaryan, David Ospina and Alex Iwobi returning to training.

The three players all trained with the team on Wednesday morning, ahead of their trip to Spain. From the looks of things they’ll be available for selection after all, despite initial fears they might not make it.

Arsene Wenger told his press conference after the Manchester United match that they picked up knocks. He admitted the club would need to monitor the trio to know whether they could take part in the Europa League semi-final second-leg.

Obviously Mkhitaryan’s injury was particularly worrying, because it appeared to be a recurrence of the same problem he had before.

Hopefully, the fact he’s back in training shows it was just a scare. We’ll have to wait for Wenger’s pre-Atletico press conference to know for sure.

The Armenian scored at the weekend, bringing his total Arsenal goal contributions to nine (three goals, six assists). Perhaps more importantly, the club haven’t won a Europa League game without him since he joined in January.

Meanwhile David Ospina continues to be Wenger’s first choice goalkeeper for these matches. He played at the weekend, seemingly in preparation, and will now probably start on Thursday. Iwobi is unlikely to start, but it’s good to have the option anyway.
