Lucas Perez’s agent says that Arsenal have not yet made a decision about the player’s future despite reports in the press claiming that the player is both admired by Unai Emery and not wanted by him.

As tends to be the way in silly season, journalists are scrambling to find any sort of story.

That’s how we ended up with one claiming that Unai Emery had ordered Lucas back to Arsenal for pre-season. Emery, we were told, is an admirer of the Spaniard after trying to sign him for PSG.

Just a few days later we were then told that Lucas had been informed he could find another club and that he was inching closer to a move to Lazio.

But speaking to Radio Sel, his agent, Rodrigo Fernandez Lovelle, has moved to clarify things. Surprisingly (not really), they don’t have any clue what Emery and Arsenal want to do with the Spaniard.

“What will happen? Lucas has a two-year contract with Arsenal, for now only this can be answered,” Lovelle said.

“The club has never put him on the market, it was the player who decided to move at the end of the last summer market.

“He was sorry to be on the bench, not to be called into the action.

“First we will know Arsenal’s plans, it is still too early to know what will happen.”

Lovelle is expected to meet with Arsenal sometime in the first two weeks of June to discuss the player’s future. Lazio are believed to be waiting on the result of this meeting.

The press, however, do not seem to be.
