Massimilino Allegri is Arsenal’s number one target to replace Arsene Wenger, but the club will have to wait until May 20th to get a response from the Italian coach.

Matteo Pedrosi, a journalist for Calciomercato and other Italian outlets, says the Gunners are pushing to bring the 50-year-old to North London.

He says the Juventus coach will give his decision after the end of the Serie A championship, next week on Sunday.

For all intents and purposes, Juventus’ season is already over. The club won the Coppa Italia against Milan this week, and they’ve realistically already done enough to win the league as well. Technically they haven’t won the title just yet, but it would take two defeats and a 16 goal swing for Napoli to stop them.

There’s no real reason why Arsenal shouldn’t start making their move now, if they haven’t already.

Allegri won’t want anything to come out publicly until after the title is officially won, of course. That’s likely to be this Sunday though, meaning we could possibly see an announcement as soon as next week.

Assuming he really is Arsenal’s key target.

That’s the big issue here. We don’t have many reliable reports on exactly who the club are going for. Given how quiet they managed to keep Wenger’s departure announcement, we may not know the new appointment until the day it happens.
