Just 10 days after the end of the season, Arsenal reached the end of their interview process, and decided Emery was the man for the job. Let’s take a look at how fans of the club reacted to the news.

The majority of supporters seemed to be excited about the change, and looking forward to the future under the new coach:

The Sky Sports Twitter account asked fans to sum up their feelings in one word, and again the responses were mostly positive, even if one or two people didn’t seem to understand the task:

Not everyone was quite so positive about the appointment though. Clearly some fans thought the club should’ve looked elsewhere for a new manager:

Regardless of their feelings at this stage, hopefully everyone will get back on side before next seasons gets underway. There are plenty of reasons to be optimistic, after all.

Emery won everything there is to win domestically last season. France doesn’t exactly have the most competitive teams, but nonetheless the manager took them to new levels, with a Ligue 1 win ratio higher than any other coach in their history.

He’s also a Europa League specialist, having won the trophy three times with Sevilla. I think most fans would take a European trophy and Champions League qualification for a first season. Good luck to the new boss!
