Arsenal seem to have briefed the press that they are close to agreeing a new deal with Jack Wilshere after similar stories appeared in multiple papers this morning.

It has looked for a while that Wilshere would be on his way this summer with the player refusing to take a paycut and the club refusing to improve their offer.

But, despite all their bluster in the press, both parties seem to have moved and are close to finding an agreement that would see Wilshere take a paycut of sorts.

Now, instead of dropping from £110kpw to £90kpw, Arsenal have offered Jack a basic £110kpw package with less of his wage dependent on bonuses.

Wilshere is believed to have more substantial offers on the table from Everton and Wolves, who want to make him their marquee signing for their return to the Premier League.

Jack is said to favour a stay at Arsenal. With his best appearance record since the 10/11 season, he believes he has done enough to warrant a new deal that does not involve a paycut to his basic weekly salary.
