Arsenal met with the representatives of Napoli midfielder Jorginho recently, as they consider a move for the midfielder this summer, according to reports in Brazil.

UOL Esporte report that the North London side were one of four teams to meet with the player’s agent, Joao Santos. Manchester City, Liverpool and Manchester United were the other three.

This is far from the first time the media have linked Jorginho to Arsenal. In March, a number of reports suggested the club were in the race after Santos admitted the player might leave Napoli this summer. Their priority at the time was trying to win the league, but that opportunity is all but over now.

It seems Arsenal’s staff behind the scenes have taken over the reins in the transfer market, after Arsene Wenger’s recent announcement that he’ll leave the club this summer.

Of course, we’ve already seen the likes of Sven Mislintat, Ivan Gazidis and Huss Fahmy hashing out the Aubameyang deal in Dortmund. It appears they plan to continue pressing ahead with business until a new manager arrives.

Wenger himself admitted in Tuesday’s press conference that he’s not part of contract negotiations anymore.

Arsenal will probably need a midfielder this summer. Jack Wilshere still hasn’t signed a new deal, the club haven’t even offered Santi Cazorla one, and Francis Coquelin left for Valencia in January. Jorginho would be a great option, but the Gunners face stiff competition for his signature. We’ll see how things pan out.
