Arsene Wenger is planning a month-long holiday at the end of the season, before he decides on his next job, to give him some perspective.

Recently the manager announced he was finally bringing his 22 years in charge of Arsenal to an end. Since then the speculation on what’s next for him and the club has spun into overdrive. However, the 68-year-old insists that he hasn’t made a decision yet, and won’t until he takes a bit of a break from his current role.

“I am confused a little bit at the moment and I have decided to take a little distance for four or five weeks before I make a decision,” Wenger said. “I need to move away a little bit to take perspective on my situation and analyse it in the most objective way possible, even if it is not easy. I will then decide where I go from there.”

The end of this season is certainly a good time to take a bit of a break. After all, it’s a World Cup summer, so Wenger can sit back and enjoy some football without the stress of whatever job he moves into next.

There are still four or five games left before Wenger officially calls time on his managerial spell with Arsenal. The most important one is on Thursday, to try and qualify for the Europa League final. After that, it’s just about securing sixth place. Hopefully there will be a trip to Lyon in mid-May too, but we’ll have to wait and see.

Let’s hope the team and the fans can make it a sending-off to remember.
