PSG will look to sell Goncalo Guedes this summer despite an offer from Valencia to buy the left winger for €35m.

PSG are in big trouble with the authorities for spending money like there was no such thing as Financial Fair Play.

It’s hard to blame them. Many other clubs have acted this way for years, although the French side took it to a whole new level last summer with their purchase of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.

Guedes has been linked with Arsenal since he was a teenager.

He has spent this season on loan with Valencia who were hopeful of signing the 21-year-old permanently but reports in Spain now fear that PSG will want to sell him to the highest bidder as soon as possible to offset as much of their debt as possible.

Valencia have offered €35m, paid over six instalments, but PSG have not yet accepted this offer.

In January, it was reported that PSG wanted £355m for Guedes. That’s around €41m. However, speaking back in January, French agent, Bruno Satin, said he believed both Valencia and Arsenal would be outbid for the player.

Satin told Le Parisien: “Today, Guedes is in the right place. In Valencia, he landed in a club where the competition was less strong than PSG and he arrived without concerns and with his qualities.

“In Paris, he was seen as a player for the future. Finally, alone, it will allow Paris to plug some of its financial hole. If we bring back a possible transfer estimated at €60m to the statistics of Guedes, it’s expensive.

“However, the age of the player suggests that he will continue to grow and, from this point of view, it could interest a European top club. Customers will surely be ready to put more than Valencia. And PSG can then hope to get more than €30m.”

In mid-January, Guedes’ price was up to £62m.

Guedes was referred to as the ‘new Ronaldo’ when he first burst onto the scene as a teenager. Back then, when he was only 18, his price tag was rumoured to be £40m, so wherever he ends up, he is not going to go cheaply.

Guedes was first linked with Arsenal when he was at Benfica. He moved to PSG in January 2017 for £27m before being sent to Valencia last summer on loan.

He is under contract with the French side until 2021 and has four goals and 10 assists in 26 La Liga games this season.
