Nigeria manager Gernot Rohr is concerned about Alex Iwobi’s recent form at Arsenal, according to reports in the country.

Nigerian outlet Punch write that their sources tell them Iwobi’s form is a ‘major worry’ for Rohr. He’s starting to become unsure whether the 21-year-old’s inclusion in the country’s squad would really benefit the Super Eagles much.

With Kelechi Iheanacho also struggling at Leicester City, Rohr is apparently ‘considering his options. He may instead take a gamble on Simeon Nwankwo, who has six goals for Serie A side Crotone this campaign.

Arsenal have given Iwobi plenty of game time this season, but so far he only has two goals from his 36 appearances. There’s good reason for that too, at the young academy graduate hasn’t looked confident in his finishing all year.

His creative numbers are still decent though, with seven assists. In fact, only three players have more than that for the club this season – Mesut Özil, Aaron Ramsey and Granit Xhaka. It remains to be seen whether that’s enough to make the starting line-up in Russia.

Iwobi still definitely brings something to Arsenal in possession when he’s on the pitch, and he’d do the same for Nigeria. It just depends whether that’s what Rohr is looking for.
