Alexandre Lacazette has admitted his knee problem was ‘complicated’ and that he wanted surgery done earlier.

The Frenchman has been in great form since returning from a small procedure on his knee.

He has scored six goals in his last six appearances.

With Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang cup-tied for the Europa League, 22 years of pressure fall on Laca’s shoulders to help guide Arsenal to a final trophy for Arsene Wenger.

Speaking to L’Equipe in their Thursday edition, Lacazette said, “This operation, I would have surely had to do it earlier. But it was complicated…”

The 26-year-old came in for some unfair criticism as his goals dried up prior to the procedure with the club not informing fans that Lacazette was carrying a problem.

Now, however, it seems fixed and he’s ready to face his good friend, Antoine Griezmann in the semi-final.

L’Equipe also note how Lacazette was expecting to play alongside Griezmann for Atletico only to be denied when the Spaniards were handed a six-month transfer ban.
