Mohamed Elneny’s media representative, Omar Sobhy, says the midfielder’s injury won’t keep him out for long, and the 25-year-old should be available in time for the Europa League final.

Elneny had to leave the field in the first-half of Arsenal’s match against West Ham with injury on Sunday. At the time it looked like it could be a serious problem, given the player’s reaction.

Arsenal gave an update to confirm ligament damage, but didn’t commit to a return date in their official statement. However, Sobhy took to Twitter to give the time-frame as he understands it:

The assistant coach of the Egyptian National Team, Mahmoud Fayez, also confirmed the news. He revealed that he’s spoken to Elneny, and the midfielder is only set to miss three weeks of football. Based on that timeline it’s possible he could even play in the final match of the Premier League campaign.

Of course, first Arsenal have to qualify for the Europa League final without Elneny to help them. No easy task, but hopefully they can use this good news for motivation.

On a personal level, Elneny must be particularly pleased that the injury wasn’t something worse, given Egypt’s upcoming participation in the World Cup this summer. He posted a thank-you to Arsenal supporters on Twitter after the news:
