Paris Saint-Germain are offering Arsene Wenger the chance to take over as general manager at the club, but the Arsenal boss would prefer a coaching role, according to reports.

The Daily Mail write that PSG want Wenger to take an administrative role, where he would act as the middle man between the manager and the board. The 68-year-old would prefer the traditional manager job, but the French club are offering that to Thomas Tuchel.

The Ligue 1 side reportedly already have a formal agreement with the former Dortmund coach. It’s unlikely they’ll go back on that even for Wenger.

They’re certainly appointing someone at the end of the season though, as Unai Emery announced his departure on Friday.

The opportunity to return to the capital of the country of his birth probably appeals to Wenger. However, I’m not sure being a small cog in a large wheel is quite as attractive to him. The boss pretty much ran everything at Arsenal for a long time, and there’s no way he’d do that as PSG.

Their owners will clearly do whatever is necessary to be successful. We saw that emphasised when they spent hundreds of millions on Neymar and Kylian Mbappe last summer.

Winning at all costs, even through gaining unfair advantages through financial loopholes, has never really been Wenger’s motto. Honestly I’d be surprised to see him take up this offer.
