Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s 28th minute strike against Southampton on Sunday has been named as Goal of the Weekend by the Guardian.

The Guardian describe the goal as “An exquisite collaborative creation, the striker’s finish was a hurried toe poke but followed touches of artful improvisation from Aubameyang as well as his team-mates Alex Iwobi and Danny Welbeck to ensure that Arsenal cancelled out Shane Long’s opening strike.”

The strike drew Arsenal level on the day and was Aubameyang’s sixth goal in seven games since signing for Arsenal for a club record fee.

He also has an assist, too, giving him seven direct goal contributions in seven games.

For comparison, the man he technically replaced, in terms of salary and importance to the team if not exact position and role, Alexis Sanchez, has two goals and five assists in 12 games.
