Arsenal had four players outperform everyone else to make the Team of the Weekend – more than any other side

Although Arsenal were absolutely awful for an hour against Stoke at Ashburton Grove on Sunday, Alexandre Lacazette’s introduction changed the game and the Gunners ran out three-nil winners when they seemed doomed to remain scoreless.

And even though Stoke offered very little by way of threat going the other way, two of Arsenal’s four players were defenders.

Mesut Ozil also makes the cut which is surprising given the criticism he came in for following the game.

Pierre Emerick Aubameyang was also included for his brace.

Here is the full team based on the best performing players of the weekend according to whoscored.com’s stats:

Davinson Sanchez, Jan Vertonghen and Vincent Kompany were all selected at the back.

Vertonghen’s score of 7.71 was lower than Mustafi’s but higher than Chambers. Sanzhez’s 7.30 was lower than both Arsenal defenders. Kompany was ranked lower than all of them with a poor showing of 6.51.

Christian Eriksen, with his 8.1 was rated lower than Mesut Ozil while David Silva also came in below the Arsenal midfielder. Similarly, Manchester United’s Jess Lingard got 7.48.

Up front, Liverpool’s Sadio Mane, with one goal, was a full 1.6 points worse than Auba.  Leroy Sane, who also scored one, came in with 7.7.

Crooks has a history of giving the majority of the places in his team to the side that wins the biggest match of the weekend.

He has certainly stayed true to form this week.
