Arsenal will take part in the International Champions Cup in the US along with Atletico Madrid, Bayern Munich, Man City, Benfica, Inter Milan, Manchester United, Borussia Dortmund, Chelsea, AC Milan and Tottenham.
AS delivered the news in their Thursday edition as Chelsea became the latest name to confirm their presence at the tournament.
With few details currently available about the competition, that should change on Tuesday 17 April when the tournament will be officially launched in Miami.
Pre-season is likely to be severely disturbed for most sides with the World Cup this summer meaning most travelling stateside for the tournament will be using weakened squads.
Reports in February claimed that Arsenal would play in the International Champions Cup in Singapore alongside Sevilla and PSG. Tiong Jin Yan, president of the Arsenal Signapore club, said: “Naturally, we are all very pleased to see them back here. We are all very curious to see the two new signings, Aubameyang and Mkhitaryan.”
This tournament is supposed to take place at the end of July with a source telling us a few months ago that Arsenal will play two matches, one on Thursday 26th and the other on Saturday 28th July. A final game will take place on July 30 to complete the three-team tournament.
Arsenal last travelled to Singapore in 2015, for the Barclays Asia Trophy. They played two matches, one against the Singapore Select XI, the other against Everton, winning 4-0 and 3-1 respectively.
The new Premier League season will kick-off on the weekend of August 11/12.
The Community Shield will take place the weekend before, with Manchester City taking on whoever wins the FA Cup.
The World Cup takes place between 14 June and 15 July and Arsenal will also have to fit in the Emirates Cup, a tournament that usually takes place at the end of July.
