Max Allegri looks set to quit Juventus this summer and the smart money has him joining Chelsea at Stamford Bridge rather than Arsenal.

But according to a report in Corriere della Sera, Allegri could take a year out of the game which would, handily, leave him free to replace Arsene Wenger when he finally leaves Arsenal at the end of his contract in 2019.

Allegri has already admitted he wants to move abroad when he leaves the Old Lady but it’s hard to imagine him sitting on the sidelines for 12 months, especially when he has previously admitted he will not spend that much of the rest of his life in management.

He may, however, find the stability on offer at Arsenal a far more attractive proposition than moving to a club that likes to sack managers the season after they win the Premier League.

CDS write that although he might ‘be willing’ a ‘sabbatical year is not at the forefront of his thoughts’.

PSG are also interested in signing Allegri to replace Unai Emery who is expected to be sacked at the end of the season. The smart money, however, should still be on him joining Chelsea this summer and Arsenal missing out once again
