Arsenal loanee Chuba Akpom scored in Sint-Truiden’s 3-1 victory on Wednesday, as he starts to get a run of form going at the club.

The 22-year-old scored from the spot after winning a penalty with some nice movement in the box. He also cleared one KFCO Beerschot chance off the line earlier on in the game.

Here are the clips of all three incidents:

Akpom joined the Belgian club in January on a short-term loan, and he’s starting to hit his stride in the play-off stage of the domestic competition. This month he has two goals in three matches.

In total the striker has scored as many goals as Takuma Asano, Lucas Perez, Stephy Mavididi and Joel Campbell combined in 2018. Perhaps that says more about how their respective loan spells are going though. Mavididi and Campbell have been very unlucky with injuries, so in their cases it’s understandable.

Sint-Truiden now sit one point off the top of their play-off group after four games, with six remaining. Hopefully Akpom can continue to prove his worth to the side in the remainder of the season.

This summer will probably be his last pre-season opportunity to break into the Arsenal side. If he can’t take it, I’d imagine a permanent move will be on the cards.
