The Times are reporting that Anthony Martial is ‘disappointed’ at not being able to speak with Arsenal during the transfer window about a possible move to the club.

At the time, the links with Arsenal and Martial in relation to the Alexis Sanchez transfer were derided, especially by Manchester United fans who believed there was no way that the Frenchman would want to leave Old Trafford for the Grove.

The Times, however, write, “It is understood that Martial was disappointed at not having the chance to discuss a move to Arsenal in January, when the London club raised the possibility of including the forward in the swap deal that led to Henrikh Mkhitaryan leaving Old Trafford instead.”

The Times also report that the 22-year-old is thinking about a move to Juventus as his time at Manchester United looks to be drawing to a close.

Martial was wanted by Arsenal before he moved to United and he might be regretting the decision to snub a move to London. That being said, it was highly unlikely that Arsenal would have paid the £54m+ that United parted with to land him in 2015.

Back then, Wenger accused Monaco, Martial’s former club, of telling lies when it came to selling the forward, who was just 19.

Wenger also revealed that Arsenal had been watching him since his days at Lyon, where he rose through the ranks between 2009-2013.

Although Wenger claims Arsenal have tried to sign a lot of players, Martial seemed like a no-brainer. His Thierry Henryesque style make him the perfect Wenger signing.

Alas, it wasn’t meant to be.

Arsenal have tried a few times to prise him away from United with no luck. It’s almost like they think selling a really good forward to a rival is a bad idea.
