Arsene Wenger told the media he doesn’t know how bad Shkodran Mustafi’s injury is just yet, and the club will have to run tests on Monday.

Mustafi scored the opening goal against Watford on Sunday, but went off in the 73rd minute with injury.

Speaking after the game, Wenger explained: “It’s a groin problem. We don’t know how bad. They told me they have to check tomorrow.”

From the sounds of things, there’s a good chance the German will be available to face Milan.

We won’t know any more until after the results of the tests, though.

Once again, Mustafi’s injuries have arrived at the worst possible time, just when he’s putting a run of form together.

Early in the campaign he put together four consecutive league clean sheets, then injured his hamstring. Then he returned for another three clean sheets in four matches before straining his thigh.

Now, after a poor period of form in late February/early March, he finally turns things round with consecutive clean sheets against Milan and Watford, and is back on the sidelines again.

Either it’s terrible back luck or a sign of just how much he’s putting into those matches.

Hopefully, the test results bring a positive result because Arsenal lack experienced centre-backs at the moment.

Should Mustafi fail to make it, Wenger will have to turn to Rob Holding or Calum Chambers on Thursday.
