Thomas Tuchel has become the latest manager to be ‘hot’ for the Arsenal job should Arsene Wenger decide to leave in the summer, even though he probably won’t.

Earlier we covered reports from France that claimed Carlo Ancelotti is in ‘close contact’ with Arsenal (and Chelsea) over their possible managerial vacancies this summer.

Although Le 10 Sport claim that the Italian would prefer a move to Arsenal, they also highlight how the club are leaving Wenger’s future in his own hands. And, as we know, when they do that, he decides to stay. Every time.

Now reports in Germany claim that Thomas Tuchel is a ‘hot candidate’ for the Arsenal job – should Wenger leave.

He is also being eyed up by Bayern Munich, who want him to replace Jupp Heyneckes who’s off again, while Chelsea interest has reportedly gone quiet.

One of the many problems Arsenal have at the minute is the lack of any clear decision. The club plan to sit down with Arsene Wenger at the end of the season and see what he has decided.

This is ridiculous.

Should Wenger decide to leave (or Arsenal actually decide to ask him to go) the summer will already be underway and they will then be tasked with finding a manager.

That manager then has to come to club, assess it in the middle of a World Cup and then try to get all his transfer business done before the middle of August when the window shuts and the league start.

Oh, and he will also have to take the club on a far-flung tour.

If Wenger is staying, why can that decision not just be made and announced now?

What difference is it going to make to wait until the summer? Does he get another year as a thank you if he wins the Europa League? Does this manager, that the club claim to respect so much, get punished by having that year taken away from him if he doesn’t?

The atmosphere around the club, while slightly better after two wins coupled with performances that seemed to indicate the players do actually care, is ready to turn on a knife edge.

If Wenger is not staying, why waste precious time that could be used to ensure next season isn’t as big a clusterf**k as this one?

And if he is, do Arsenal really think fans can get anymore annoyed?
