Brendan Rodgers seems to have no interest in taking over the Arsenal job much to the relief of everyone who supports the club.

The former Liverpool man had been a surprise inclusion on a list of managers leaked by Arsenal in the wake of the League Cup shambles last weekend and the response to the mere mention of his name united most Arsenal fans, with many saying they’d prefer another decade of Wenger in this current state than have that clampet in charge.

Thankfully, it seems we don’t have to worry.

23 memes that show why Brendan Rodgers should not be Arsenal manager

“It’s a fantastic club Arsenal, but they have a great manager,” Rodgers said.

“The criticism Arsene takes unfortunately is now the modern game, modern football.

“It’s unfortunate because he has done so much for the British game.

“He came in 20 odd years ago and revolutionised the game.

“And it’s sometimes disappointing and sad for another manager to see someone of that esteem and quality go through that. But there is always going to be speculation around it.”

Unsurprisingly, Rodgers is loving life at a club where he has no real competition, allowing him to rack up trophies and records he would otherwise get nowhere near.

“I’m loving my life up here. I’m not going to be here forever, but I’m living in a dream.

“And dreams always come to an end at some point, that’s for sure.

“But I am always relaxed about speculation and what not.

“For me, my focus and my life is here. I love my professional life, the challenges of managing, the expectations, the scrutiny that comes with Celtic.”

Glad to hear it, Brendan. Long may you stay there.
