Josh Kroenke’s recent trip to London to perform a review of Arsenal suggests he’ll have a say in whether Arsene Wenger stays or goes after this season, according to reports.

The Times [£] claim that Wenger’s future is “clearly one issue on the agenda” in Kroenke’s review.

The 37-year-old came to visit last week and is expected to stay for three months to do a review of the club.

He watched Arsenal’s terrible League Cup final performance, along with all the accompanying fan anger and it’s hard to imagine that left him feeling very positive about the managerial situation.

Arsenal’s preferred option to replace Arsene Wenger named

Of course, if you believe the cynics, the Kroenkes aren’t in it for the trophies or the fans. Many believe they only invested in the club for the money.

From that point of view, the past week or so hasn’t been too bad.

After all, Arsenal announced another profit, this time £25.1m before tax.

Plus, the club’s share price is up to around £30,000 per share.

Then again, they’d be making even more money if the team played a bit better.

So far, the team have missed out on an entire season of Champions League prize money, and look like missing out again next year.

All 7 managers shortlisted to replace Arsene Wenger assessed

If losing Wenger becomes the best financial decision as well as what’s best for the team, the decision to ask him to leave becomes easy for the current owners.

Another thing to consider is how Josh Kroenke’s growing involvement with the club reinforces the fact that the Kroenke family are planning a long future with Arsenal, something they’ve always admitted.

He’s young enough that he could remain in charge of his father’s majority shareholding for the next 30-40 years although how that would fit with his current roles as President of the Denver Nuggets and Colorado Avalanche remains to be seen.

So, if you’ve enjoyed the last decade, you’re in luck, because you’re probably going to get a few more of them.
