Alexis Sanchez has been chatting to the Chilean media and claims that not only did Arsene Wenger tell him he was the best player at Arsenal, there are supposedly no bad feelings between him and the Frenchman.

Arsenal fans have been pretty amused by Alexis’ poor form since his January move to Manchester United. The 29-year-old has scored just one goal in nine appearances and United fans are already asking for him to be dropped to the bench.

With this in mind, Alexis’ latest comments about his final days at Arsenal aren’t just funny, they make him seem completely oblivious… not just to his own form but to how human beings work in general.

Speaking to Chilevision, the forward claimed there’s no bad feelings between him and Wenger… I bet there is a little bit. You know, since the Chile international basically held the club – and Wenger – to ransom and then downed tools as soon as he didn’t get his own way over the summer before signing for a rival. Wenger can be polite and all but I highly doubt he was totally fine with Alexis’ decision.

“I wanted to grow and shine more as a Chilean [by becoming the 1st Chilean to play for Man United],” he said. “Arsène understood my decision and wished me luck. We have no ill feelings towards each other.”

Also, Wenger apparently told Alexis that he was the best player in the team when he asked him to stay at Arsenal.

“Arsene Wenger was very fond of me,” Alexis told Chilevision. “He told me ‘I want you to stay ‘cos you are the best player in this team.

While I believe that the boss probably did tell him he was ONE of the best players in the squad, because he was once upon a time, I feel like the 68-year-old was just trying to convince him to stay… And it seems most fans agree with me.

They also find it pretty amusing that Alexis says he wants to be a manager in the Premier League one day and his first step is to learn English… after already living in England for four years…

“I am trying to learn English as I want to manage in the Premier League one day,” he said.
