Arsenal are still being linked with Luka Modric and have now reportedly ‘tabled’ a £53m – or €60m – bid for the Real Madrid star.

Spanish outlet Don Balon, who aren’t exactly known for being reliable, claim that Arsenal have tabled an outrageous bid of £53m (€60m) for Modric. This is despite the former Spurs attacking midfielder being 32 years of age and past his best.

The report from Don Balon comes just days after Diario Gol said that Modric has informed his inner circle that he’s leaving Real Madrid in the summer.

Tottenham are also said to be interested, as are Liverpool; the Croatian would allegedly prefer a move to London.

While rumours about Modric and his Madrid exit have been circulating for a couple for weeks, this is the first time Arsenal have actually been reported to have ‘tabled’ a bid…

I’m not sure why Arsenal would do that when a) the transfer window isn’t even close to being open and b) they’ve got more than enough attacking midfielders already.

Modric has been part of the former Dinamo director’s embezzlement and tax fraud case.

The 32-year-old is currently facing perjury charges after he gave a false statement about his 2008 transfer from Dinamo to Tottenham. If found guilty, he could get up to five years in prison.
