A group of 18 Arsenal fans from around the globe are set to unveil a new banner for Arsene Wenger during his side’s Europa League clash against Milan on Thursday night.

A group of Arsenal fans from across the world have gotten together to fund and create a huge banner for Wenger and, unlike most of the signs we see Gooners holding up these days, this is a nice one.

“We decided to design a new flag after Arsenal won the FA Cup last season as the old banner only had six cups on display,” lead member of the group, Abdullah Faiz, told Goal.

“The new banner is not necessarily a ‘Wenger In’ banner, but it is all about respect and appreciation. There were around 20 people from different nationalities and backgrounds who helped to design and fund it.

“Arsenal fans who have the utmost respect for their manager wanted to stand up for him and say, ‘We have your back in this turbulent period.’”

The banner says ‘respect Wenger’ across the top and bottom, with the Frenchman’s silhouette in the middle and the words ‘loyal’ and ‘legend’ either side.

It’s a lovely touch and, as I said, a change from some of the type of banners we’ve seen over the last year…

Although the majority of Arsenal fans do want the 68-year-old to call it a day, seeing him hounded out of the club after everything he’s done would be tough to swallow. He deserves better than that.

The banner is set to be unfurled during Arsenal’s Thursday night match against Milan.

Arsenal host Milan for the second leg of their European tie after beating the Serie A side 2-0 at the San Siro last week.

If Wenger’s men can hold onto the lead or even extend it at Ashburton Grove, Arsenal go through to the quarter-finals of the Europa League.

What better way for Wenger to bow out than to win a European trophy before leaving?
