Carlo Ancelotti is reportedly in ‘close’ contact with Arsenal and Chelsea with both clubs believed to be looking for a new manager this summer.

According to Le 10 Sport, who can be more than a little dodgy, Ancelotti is also wanted by PSG to take over from Unai Emery whose job is on the line after crashing out of the Champions League.

The French publication, however, write, “According to our information, the Italian technician, free since his departure from Bayern Munich in the fall, is currently in closer contact with two Premier League clubs, which he could favour: it is Chelsea and Arsenal.

“Chelsea is actively looking for a coach knowing that Antonio Conte will not stay past the month of June.

“A second London club has made contact: it is Arsenal. This option could be preferred by the Italian coach.”

Le 10 Sport then go on to discuss how Arsenal will not stop their ‘historic manager’ from seeing out the last year of his contract if that’s what he decides to do after discussions at the end of the season.

Ancelotti would certainly be a safe pair of hands to entrust the club to for its nervous steps into a post-Wenger world.

He has a proven track record across Europe with every club he has managed and would fit into the new, more devolved system of management the club are preparing for post-Wenger life.

All signs, however, point to the manager honouring his contract. He has repeatedly insisted that he has never broken a contract and has no desire to do so.

Whether a Europa Cup win would change his mind, it’s hard to say.

History tells us, however, that it won’t.
