AC Milan continue to make contact with Jack Wilshere over a possible move to the San Siro this summer, according to reports in Italy.

Gazzetta dello Sport write that ‘contacts are continuing’ with Wilshere over a move. After last summer’s round of heavy spending, the Serie A side are looking for cheaper options this time around to avoid financial sanctions.

A free transfer fits the bill perfectly, and the midfielder’s current contract expires at the end of the season.

Milan manager Gennaro Gattuso also admitted his admiration for the 26-year-old last week. He explained what he likes about Wilshere to reporters ahead of the match in London.

“I think he can play in any league” he said. “He may not be super-fast, but he has got great skills and is super-tactical. He has good ball circulation – when he gets the ball he knows exactly where to send it.”

Arsenal have been negotiating a new deal with Wilshere over the last couple of months, but at this stage talks seem to have slowed to a stop. The player himself told the media they were “no closer” to a deal after the first leg against Milan.

As a result, a number of clubs are starting to circle overheard. Everton have reportedly offered the Hale End Academy graduate an £8m signing on fee to stay in England with them.

We’ll have to wait and see which club manages to tempt him, whether that’s Arsenal, Milan, Everton or someone else.
