Arsene Wenger is reportedly ‘almost obsessed’ with bringing back Oguzhan Ozyakup back to Arsenal after allowing the midfielder to leave in 2012

Arsenal signed Ozyakup as a 15-year-old in 2008 but allowed him to leave in order to gain first team experience that they could not guarantee him. Since leaving, he has flourished in Turkey and caught the eye of many big clubs across Europe.

According to the Turkish newspaper, Yeni Asir [via Sport Witness], Arsene Wenger is ‘almost obsessed’ with getting the player back to Arsenal.

There were recent reports that the club had a €7m offer for the player turned down. Besiktas wanted closer to €12m however Arsenal believed, with the sell-on clause contained in Ozyakup’s contract benefiting them anyway, they would be able to knock a large chunk off the asking price.

Although Ozyakup only made two appearances for the Arsenal first team, both in the League Cup, he managed one assist in those 27 minutes.

Since joining Besiktas, Ozzy has scored 27 and created 48 in 209 games from central midfield.

Ozakup is out of contract in the summer and Besiktas are keen to get him to sign a new deal.

Should he agree, Arsenal will lose their sell-on clause however should he move in the summer, Arsenal will get nothing anyway due to him running his contract down.
