Arsenal fans were disappointed with Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s performance against Östersunds FK on Thursday, but do these tweets from Manchester United fans suggest this is just the start?

Mkhitaryan’s passing in the second-leg of Arsenal’s Europa League tie was way off what you expect from a player like him. In fact, he had the lowest pass accuracy of any starting outfield player from either team with 63%.

It wasn’t the worst performance overall. The Armenian still created a couple of chances and played a few more balls in that other players should’ve done better with. Still, it wasn’t the kind of display fans will want to see on a consistent basis.

Unfortunately, it’s also just what United fans said to expect in the build up to the January swap deal:

When Mkhitaryan was completing his January transfer, Arsenal fans were keen to highlight all of Alexis Sanchez’s faults. We’ve seen those on display already during his brief spell at Old Trafford. From the looks of things, perhaps we should wait a bit longer before we rub that in their faces, because so far the same has been true the other way around.

Most likely, both players just need some time to settle. Mkhitaryan will surely improve when he has Özil, Ramsey and Aubameyang for company instead of Thursday’s B-team. For now, it’s too soon to rush to any judgements either way.
