Jeff Reine-Adelaide is looking to improve his end product and tactical understanding during his time at Angers.

Reine-Adelaide joined Angers on loan for the rest of the season during the January transfer window.

After missing much of the first half of the season, including Arsenal’s Europa League and Carabao Cup games, due to injury, he had to go loan to get valuable first team football.

According to the midfielder, Angers were the only club interested in signing him.

“I was informed of Angers’ interest over a week ago,” he told RMC Sport (via GFFN)

“I am very happy to arrive and help the club to stay up, and maybe go even higher.

“The talks with the coach Stéphane Moulin and the sporting director Olivier Pickeu reassured me.

“I know I am joining a good club which will help me progress during these next six months.

“I was informed of Angers’ interest only, which shows that I had to come here.”

A problem for Arsenal’s loan players this season has been a lack of game time.

The 20-year-old said that he wasn’t guaranteed frequent playing time, which is slightly worrying. However, he seems relaxed about the situation.

“No the coach was very clear with me. He said, “You are an additional element to our squad, you have to be good in practice to earn your spot.” I am not worried. On the contrary, I want to pay back the trust they’ve placed in me. It’s important for me.”

Reine-Adelaide arrived at Arsenal from RC Lens in 2015 and excited many people with his performances in that year’s Emirates Cup.

He’s had a handful of cup appearances since, but has yet to break into the first team.

Despite that, Reine-Adelaide wants to thank Wenger for his support.

“Firstly, he accepted that I go on loan,” he said.

“He asked that I work hard there, to listen well and to come back stronger and more mature.

“I know a lot of people think that I shouldn’t have gone so early to Arsenal, but I don’t regret it.

“Arsène Wenger has given me first team opportunities, but then I had my injuries. He then helped me come back. In that respect, I really want to thank him.”

He also spoke about the things that Wenger want him to work on while he’s away from the club.

“He said I need to work on my statistics in terms of decisiveness. It is important to be clinical and to make your team win. I also need to improve on the tactical side of things, which is why Angers is a good fit. They have a different style of play to Arsenal, which will help me develop that side of things.”

Angers are 16th in Ligue 1 and only out of the relegation zone on goal difference.

Reine-Adelaide could find himself involved when they play at home to Monaco next weekend.
