Arsenal will look to sign a goalkeeper in the summer and have identified Jan Oblak as their main target, according to reports.

Arsenal do need a new number one goalkeeper due to the declining form of Petr Cech and uncertain future of David Ospina.

According to GSP.ro, Atletico Madrid keeper Jan Oblak will be our main target for the summer.

This story follows up a similar one in Sport from a couple of days ago.

In that report, they say that Arsenal’s new head of football relations Raul Sanllehi has made Oblak his number one target for the summer.

This all sounds very promising, as Oblak is an excellent keeper with his best years ahead of him.

The one problem could be his £89m release clause.

Atletico are unlikely to sell cheaply and could demand that a club pay his full release clause.

It wouldn’t be impossible for Arsenal, but it would smash the record for the highest amount of money spent on a goalkeeper.

The most expensive keeper in history was Manchester City’s Ederson, at £34.7m.

Whether it’s Oblak or someone else, Arsenal must target a new number one in the summer.
