Despite Pep Guardiola confirming on Friday that Raheem Sterling was suffering with a muscular problem and was therefore a doubt for the Carabao Cup final against Arsenal, it seems the 23-year-old has been ruled fit after all.

According to the Times (£), both Sterling and Gabriel Jesus have been cleared to face Arsenal on Sunday after Pep claimed they were both doubts on Friday. That was lucky, eh?

Sterling was subbed off for Leroy Sane in the second half of City’s 4-0 Champions League win over Basel this week. The 23-year-old was apparently suffering with a muscular problem.

The winger, who’s been key for City this season, was therefore a doubt for the Carabao Cup final against Arsenal on Sunday.

“He had a problem with muscle,” said Pep. “He had a problem against Basel. I don’t know if he’s ready for Sunday.”

Obviously, this no longer seems to be the case.

The England international has scored 20 goals and provided 10 assists in 36 appearances over all competitions this season.

While he’s been used sparingly during the League Cup, only making three appearances against West Brom, Wolves and Bristol City, he will be useful for City to have available for the final at Wembley.

Although City have practically already won the Premier League title, lifting the League Cup could be their first piece of silverware this season and Pep’s first since he joined the Manchester club last season.

Arsenal fans would have been jumping for joy if Sterling was unavailable this weekend, as the former Liverpool forward has scored three goals and provided two assists against them during his career.

Meanwhile Gabriel Jesus, who returned to training earlier this month after 41 days out with a knee injury, was also apparently a doubt for the final but has reportedly been cleared to play as well.

Claudio Bravo will start in goal.
