Christian Pulisic praised Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s character after the former Dortmund man’s move to Arsenal, and says he’s looking forward to seeing what the striker does next.

Aubameyang left Dortmund in less-than-ideal circumstances. The club suspended the striker twice before his eventual move. You might think former teammate Pulisic would have some hard feelings towards the 28-year-old as a result.

Yet, when reporters asked about Aubameyang’s character, the American was very complimentary.

“I think you guys know what type of guy he is. He shows that,” Pulisic said.

“But, what I think you guys really don’t know is just how nice of a character he is and how much he cares and how hard he works.

“I mean, he brought me along so much as a player and helped me and guided me, and he’s been such a great guy. Obviously, we’re sad to lose him, but I’m excited to see what he does.”

On the Premier League, Pulisic said he can see the appeal, but he’s focusing on his current side for now:

“Of course, the Premier League is an unbelievable league. You never know in football what can happen, so right now, I’m focused with Dortmund, and yeah, that’s that.”

The winger is still just 19 years old, but he’s a permanent fixture in the Dortmund team. This season he’s up to 26 appearances for the Bundesliga side, scoring four goals and assisting two.

Having experienced players like Aubameyang to help him when things get tough is important. It’s good to hear the striker did that in Germany, and hopefully he can do the same for Arsenal’s young players. I’m sure prospects like Eddie Nketiah and Reiss Nelson could particularly benefit from some guidance.

Pulisic, meanwhile, will have to find a new role model in the Dortmund team. Alternatively, he could just join back up with the Gabon international at Arsenal this summer.
