Mesut Ozil has promised his mother that he’d play for his favourite club Fenerbahce one day, according to reports.

Ozil has apparently been a huge fan of Fenerbahce since he was a kid and continues to follow their progress.

According to Sporx, the midfielder once promised his mother, Gulizar Ozil, that he’d play for the Turkish club at some stage in his career.

They even have an alleged quote from Ozil, saying: “I promise mother, I’ll play at Fenerbahçe at one stage of my career as I’ve told you before.”

Ozil extended his Arsenal contract until 2021, so if he is planning on moving to Turkey, it certainly won’t be before then.

It’s possible that he could go there when his contract expires.

He’ll be 33 at that point and likely winding down his career.

A move to Turkey, where his parents were born, could be a nice way for him to finish his football career.

It’d also be nice if he could finish his career at Arsenal.

Ozil will have spent eight years at the club should he see out the entirety of his new deal.

It’s hard to guess what will happen between now and then, but I’m sure the Arsenal fans would love to see him to stay for even longer.
