Despite having a great match against Östersunds FK on Thursday night, Mesut Ozil hasn’t been chosen by UEFA for their Europa League team of the week.

Ozil completed 90% of his passes against the Swedish side, made three key passes and scored a goal. However, UEFA snubbed the German for their Europa League team of the week.

Arsenal still managed to dominate the XI after their 3-0 victory though.

The 29-year-old didn’t have a great deal to do but he managed to save a penalty, which is something Petr Cech hasn’t managed since he signed for Arsenal from Chelsea in 2015.

Calum Chambers also made UEFA’s TOTW with his “strong” performance against Östersunds FK.

The 22-year-old completed 93/99 passes, which is admirable for a defender, and won three tackles.

Nacho Monreal, who scored Arsenal’s first goal of the evening, understandably also made UEFA’s best XI and, by law, should be included in every Best IX until the end of the season whether he plays or not.

The Spaniard has always been reliable and a real fan favourite but since returning from injury for the Crystal Palace game on January 20, he’s really kicked it up a notch.

The 31-year-old has scored three goals and provided two assists in six games.

UEFA described his attacking play as excellent.
