Arsenal have confirmed to Daily Cannon that both Jemma Rose and Vyan Sampson have left the club.

The club have informed Daily Cannon that Jemma Rose and Vyan Sampson are no longer Arsenal players.

Sampson’s contract has expired, while Rose has left for “personal reasons”.

In Sylvain’s weekly column on Monday, our women’s football expert noted that both Jemma Rose and Vyan Sampson have removed Arsenal from their Twitter biographies.

Although the club is yet to publicly announce anything about either player, they are no longer at Arsenal.

Sampson joined Arsenal from Charlton in 2011 when she was just 15.

Due to injury, the 21-year-old defender has struggled to cement a place in Arsenal’s starting XI since being promoted to the first team in 2014.

Sampson made just two appearances during her time in north London and the club have decided to allow her to leave.

Presumably the young defender will use this time to work on her fitness and find another club that will give her proper game time when she’s ready.

Although it might seem odd to most of us that Arsenal haven’t publicly said goodbye to Sampson or Rose, it’s not that strange when you consider it’s women’s football.

As much as women’s football is increasing its visibility with more people engaging in the sport than ever, the demand for constant updates on female players is much lower than with the men.

Rose seems to be a different issue as she still had a contract with Arsenal but has left due to ‘personal reasons’.

The 26-year-old, who signed for Arsenal from in 2015, hasn’t played since the Conti-Cup match against Reading back in January – she was dropped for the following FA WSL match against the same team.

She subsequently didn’t make the bench against Yeovil (A), Liverpool ( A), Yeovil (H) either.

Good luck to both Sampson and Rose.
