Former Arsenal midfielder Samir Nasri could be joining Zenit St. Petersburg after he was released by Antalyaspor.

Nasri, who was at Arsenal from 2008-2011, joined Turkish side Antalyaspor in the summer but terminated his contract with the club in January.

Now a free agent, the Frenchman could soon be on the move to Russia to reunite with Roberto Mancini at Zenit.

According to Russian site Sport Express, the 30-year-old’s representatives have spoken with Zenit and a deal could soon happen.

Nasri worked with Mancini while the two were at Manchester City, and is said to be a personal target for the Italian.

L’Equipe, meanwhile, mention that there’s interest in Nasri from the Chinese Super League.

Nasri spent six seasons with City after leaving Arsenal in 2011.

He spent last season on loan at Sevilla, but a combination of fitness issues and financial demands prevented the move from becoming a permanent one.

It seems he’ll be continuing his career in eastern Europe.

The Russian league is currently in a winter break and will resume in March.

Zenit sit second in the table, eight points off leaders Lokomotiv Moscow.
