Arsene Wenger is not surprised that Henrikh Mkhitaryan is volunteering to stay behind and help out our strikers after training.

Mkhitaryan has only been at the club for a couple of weeks, but is already doing some extra work on the training ground.

The Armenian has been helping out the strikers after training by staying behind to provide service instead of leaving it to a coach.

When asked in his pre-Tottenham press conference about reports that this was happening, Wenger was hardly surprised.

“He has a very professional attitude and overall I think that is what you want from every player.

“I am not surprised about that because I find that absolutely normal,” he said, as reported by Football London.

Many players tend to stay behind for extra training to work on their game, so you’d expect a player of Mkhitaryan’s experience to do so as well.

It’s also interesting that Arsenal’s forwards are putting in extra work.

It hasn’t been the most prolific year for our strikers, with none of them reaching double figures yet.

It’d also be useful if Mkhitaryan’s volunteer work helps him form a deeper relationship with his fellow attackers.

We’ve already seen that he has a good understanding with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Now he needs to combine with the likes of Alexandre Lacazette and Danny Welbeck, too.

Hopefully, we’ll see the fruits of this labour against Tottenham on Saturday.
