French newspaper L’Equipe have identified Alexandre Lacazette as one the of the flops of the weekend after his misses against Tottenham.

Being a striker means revelling in the glory when you bag a winner, but also copping the blame when you miss a good chance.

There is where Lacazette finds himself at the moment.

He had the opportunity to be the hero for Arsenal during their 1-0 defeat to Tottenham on Saturday.

After being played in by Alex Iwobi, he had a one-on-one with Hugo Lloris in stoppage time, but put his shot wide.

It was thanks to that miss, plus a volley he put over the bar earlier in the game, that he was branded a flop by L’Equipe.

During their round-up of French players abroad, L’Equipe wrote: “Scorer of nine goals in the Premier League this season, the former Lyonnais lost his place in the Arsenal eleven to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

“Remaining on the bench against Everton, Lacazette missed two golden chances against Tottenham. Coming on with 25 minutes to play, he first sent a volley into the stands, before missing a duel against Hugo Lloris.”

The 26-year-old remains the club’s top scorer this season but has scored just once since December.

Now he’s lost his place to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, it’s clear that this season isn’t going as he would have hoped.

There’s still time for him to turn things around, but those misses against Tottenham will not have helped.

All being well, he’ll have a chance to redeem himself against Ostersunds FK in the Europa League on Thursday night.
